Arezou is an associate in the marine and international trade department. She specialises in complex, multi jurisdictional disputes across the maritime, international trade and energy sector where she has represented state owned entities, ship owners and charterers as well as some of the world’s largest commodity and energy trading clients.

Arezou has represented clients in arbitrations governed by the ICC, LCIA and LMAA rules. Her commercial litigation experience encompasses arbitration related applications including challenges to Awards, advising on jurisdiction and interim applications. She also has experience in substantive, large scale and complex disputes in the High Court and Court of Appeal.

Arezou studied Law at the London School of Economics and Political Science. She also studied for a Masters in Public International Law at the same institution, passing with Distinction.

Arezou is fluent in Persian and conversational in Spanish.

Representing an independent oil and gas company in an ICC disputes with its joint venture partner arising under a Joint Bid Agreement concerning the proper distribution of a participating interest share in an exploration licence in the MENA region.

Acting for charterers in a multi-million dollar LMAA dispute under a COA in a claim by owners for the alleged repudiatory breach of the charterparty.

Acting for owners in an LMAA arbitration against charterers for breach of the charterparty speed and performance warranty.

Successfully intervened on behalf of fuel trading client (as an interested party) in the Court of Appeal in the case of PST Energy 7 Shipping LLC Product Shipping and Trading SA v OW Bunker Malta Ltd & Ors [2015] EWCA Civ 1058.

Representing one of Denmark’s largest container shipping companies, as defendants in commercial court proceedings in disputes under bills of lading in relation to damage to cargo.

Acting in relation to the arrest and release of a vessel in Singapore.

Advising in relation to interim applications, challenges to Awards and the court’s jurisdiction.

Representing clients in relation to the termination and withdrawal provisions of a Lease and Management Contract for Jack-Up Rigs in a dispute with an offshore drilling contractor.

Acting for buyers in a dispute concerning the sale and purchase of a vessel and the terms of the Memorandum of Agreement.

Acting for energy client in relation to a multi-million pound defects claim against design and build contractor.
