Alexander is a Fellow of INSOL International and holds a specialist qualification in insolvency awarded by the HKICPA. He sits on the Insolvency Law Committee of the Law Society of Hong Kong. Alexander is among the first batch of Hong Kong lawyers to have passed the examination requirements for legal practice in the Greater Bay Area.
In the restructuring and insolvency market, he regularly advises officeholders, financial institutions distressed companies as well as company directors. Alexander is said to "demonstrate experience acting for liquidators and creditors in advisory and contentious issues. He has notable expertise in winding-up proceedings and distressed M&A matters" (Chambers Greater China 2023). Alexander is ranked in the 2022 IFLR 1000 as a rising star partner in restructuring and insolvency. Alexander was described by client as "exceptionally capable with a strong blend of commercial and technical advice”. (GRR 100 2022).
Alexander is also experienced in shareholder disputes, defamation cases as well as construction and arbitration claims. Alexander holds a number of ADR accreditations. He is a fellow member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), an accredited mediator on the panel of the Law Society of Hong Kong, as well as a mediator and arbitrator on the panel of eBRAM (an online dispute resolution centre). Prior to joining the legal profession, Alexander worked as a civil engineer.
Outside his job, Alexander has taken up appointments as members of government tribunals. He served as a panel member of the Appeal Panel (Housing) from 2016 to 2022. Currently, he is a panel member of the Resolvability Review Tribunal.
He is fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
