Charlotte is a partner and head of the financial services and regulation group.  She specialises in advising financial institutions on regulatory and commercial matters.

Charlotte was voted Best Legal Adviser – Regulatory and Commercial at the Compliance Register's Annual Compliance Awards.  She is recognised as a Leading Individual by Chambers UK.

Earlier in her career, she was Director of Legal for the Threadneedle group and worked in the Enforcement Department at IMRO.  Together, these give her practical and commercial insight into clients' issues.

She has extensive experience of advising fund management companies, banks, insurance companies, corporate finance houses, brokers and other financial institutions on a wide range of regulatory and commercial matters.

Regulation

Charlotte's practice is dedicated exclusively to financial services and regulatory work.

Recent work includes advising on: the FSA's Treating Customers Fairly initiative and unfair terms in consumer contracts; issues relating to the Payment Services Directive; consumer credit; FSA authorisation and associated advice; product distribution and financial promotion; large scale projects, such as systems and controls reviews and compliance with MiFID; preparation for FSA visits; and anti-money laundering.

Financial services

Charlotte's experience includes: product development, including advice on legal and regulatory issues and documentation; discretionary investment management and advisory arrangements; custody arrangements; stocklending arrangements; repurchase arrangements; ISDA and CSA agreements and associated derivatives documentation; and outsourcing arrangements, including advice on the drafting and negotiation of documentation and regulatory issues.

Funds

Charlotte advises on all aspects of authorised funds, from the straightforward setting up of an authorised fund, to complicated fund consolidation exercises.

She advises UCITS and non-UCITS funds on their registration, distribution and promotion world-wide, as well as on setting up such funds
