Stephenson Harwood wins shipping finance law firm of the year
2 December 2011
International law firm Stephenson Harwood has won 'Shipping Finance law firm of the year', awarded by Jane's Transport Finance magazine at their annual awards ceremony.
The Jane’s Transport Finance Awards, one of the leading sets of awards in the transportation sector, recognise the effort and skill of bankers and lawyers who work within the transport finance industry and award those firms who have shown innovation and skill in securing finance for transportation assets.
Stephenson Harwood's shipping finance practice beat intense competition from magic circle and leading ship finance law firms to be recognised for its market leading work. The practice has completed some of the most important deals in the ship finance and transportation sectors this year, and the judges also noted that the practice offered the most diversified and international set of transactions for this category.
Commenting on the award, Mark Russell, head of finance at Stephenson Harwood, said: "We are delighted to have won this prestigious award. Stephenson Harwood is one of the very few international law firms that fields substantial market-leading ship finance teams covering the key ship finance jurisdictions of the world. Our clients include many of the leading players in the ship finance sector - including almost every major ship finance bank, a number of the world's largest shipping companies and some of the world's major shipyards. We are grateful to our clients for contributing to the success of our practice."
