Head of environment hired

International law firm, Stephenson Harwood, has appointed Andrew Wiseman as head of its environment practice. Andrew joins from Blake Lapthorn where he was head of the environment team. Prior to that he was a partner at Trowers & Hamlins, for nine years, heading up the environmental law group there.
Recognised as one of the leading environmental lawyers in the UK, Andrew specialises in environmental law and has extensive experience in contaminated land, waste management, environmental insurance and other environmental matters. He also practices planning law and regularly advises multinational companies, local authorities, NGOs, housing associations, charities and companies on international, European and UK environmental regulation.
Andrew is currently the Convenor of UKELA's Contaminated Land Working Party and a member of Environmental Protection UK's Land Quality Committee. He has also been appointed by the Minister of State for Trade Investment and Foreign Affairs to sit on the Advisory Council of the Export Credits Guarantee Department. He is a Director and Trustee of Environmental Protection UK and is Chairman of the London Borough of Islington's Climate Change Fund Advisory Panel. He was formerly chairman of the United Kingdom Environmental Law Association for three and a half years.
Andrew is on the editorial board of Environmental Law and Management published by Lawtext and is a former editor of Garner's Encyclopaedia of Environmental Law and Butterworth's Environmental Law Bulletin.
