Finance capability boosted with new partner hire
26 October 2009
International law firm Stephenson Harwood has grown its finance team by hiring Graeme McLellan, a Partner from Pinsent Masons. His recruitment to the finance team follows the appointment of Richard Parsons earlier this month from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. This latest addition demonstrates Stephenson Harwood's continued commitment to grow the finance practice as one of the very few international firms who are market leaders across all three key transportation assets – aviation, rail and shipping.
Graeme trained at Clifford Chance, qualifying into their Asset Finance team in 1997 and worked in both the London and Hong Kong offices of the firm. He has also spent several years in the asset finance team at Freshfields and spent two years in-house as General Counsel with a leading air cargo company. Graeme joined Pinsent Masons in 2006 and is an expert in rail and aviation finance. He has recently advised Angel Trains on their UK refranchising and Lloyds TSB on financing new trains for Stansted Express. In aviation finance, he is a corporate jet finance specialist and is described by The Legal 500 as having "one of the premier practices in the corporate jet market."
Graeme commented; "Stephenson Harwood's finance team is world class with considerable critical mass. I was attracted to the firm because of its premier rail and aviation practice which has a rapidly growing presence on the international scene."
Mark Russell, Head of Finance at Stephenson Harwood commented: "Graeme has a blue chip practice and his appointment continues our drive to position the firm as top for transportation finance. Graeme's extensive experience in this area will complement our existing capabilities and help us achieve further growth".
Stephenson Harwood's finance practice operates as a global practice with a total team strength of over eighty specialists based across the key asset finance hubs in Europe and Asia.
