Matthew is head of the corporate practice and a partner at Stephenson Harwood in Singapore.
Focusing not only on deals in Singapore but across Asia too, Matthew provides strategic advice to both private and public companies on joint ventures, corporate restructurings, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, venture capital and initial public offerings (IPOs).
Matthew’s knowledge of complex finance issues and his experience in understanding clients’ objectives makes him a skilled advisor in sectors spanning transportation and offshore, energy and resources, media, real estate and financial services.
He strongly believes in working collaboratively with his clients to obtain the best possible outcome, taking a pragmatic approach and delivering workable solutions to ensure deals are closed without unnecessary delay.
Having worked in London for over 10 years before moving to Asia, Matthew has built up particular expertise in advising companies, international financial institutions and intermediaries on transactions on the London Stock Exchange and its AIM market in particular. He also brings to any fund-raising transaction his thorough knowledge of the investment process and his understanding of Asian markets, cultures and corporate business styles.
He has represented both public and private clients in various industries and from countries throughout Asia - including Singapore, Malaysia, China, Vietnam and Indonesia - on numerous transactions including many cross-border deals.
