Eifion plays a central part in the IP team at Stephenson Harwood, which has been described as "excellent" in The Legal 500 (2015). His main focus is helping his clients deal with competitors who infringe his clients' IP rights and seek to compete unfairly with them. Due to the global nature of his clients and these disputes, Eifion has a speciality in developing and implementing effective strategies for dealing with such situations across multiple countries. He has co-ordinated and led matters which involve as many as 30 countries, before national courts and IP offices, as well as on the European community level before the European Trade Mark Office (OHIM) and the European Patent Office (EPO).
He has advised on cases involving patents, utility models, copyright, designs, trade marks and unfair competition. He has particular sector expertise in life sciences, retail and luxury goods. Chambers UK described him as having "an easy-going approach with clients and a bulldog style with the opposition".
Whilst Eifion enjoys helping clients find a solution to keeping competitors at a fair distance from his client's products and services, he also believes that it is important that clients make sure that they protect their businesses before they find themselves in these difficult situations. Eifion helps his clients devise strategies for protecting their IP in the most cost effective and commercially advantageous way, depending on the client's sector and plans for the future. He also advises clients on the best ways to commercialise their IP through licensing and other collaborative arrangements.
Eifion is a recommended lawyer in the Legal 500 UK directory, WTR 1000, IAM Patent 1000 and is recognised as a leading individual in the Chambers UK directory. He is listed as a trade mark leader in WIPR 2017 and winner of the Client Choice award for IP in 2016. Eifion is described as "tenacious" and "technically superb" (Chambers UK 2015).
