Ciaran is an associate in our employment team and has experience dealing with a variety of employment law issues and acts for both corporate and individual clients.

Ciaran's experience includes advising on Employment Tribunal claims, settlement agreement negotiations and complex grievances and disciplinaries with a particular focus on the financial services sector having previously worked for a derivatives trading company and as an in-house compliance officer.

Ciaran also completed a 6 month rotation in Stephenson Harwood's regulatory litigation team. He is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.

Grievance and disciplinary procedures

Advised on complex grievances, including allegations of whistleblowing, bullying, harassment and discrimination, and difficult disciplinary processes and appeals including the dismissal of individuals regulated under the senior managers and certification regime.

Settlement agreements 

Advised on exit terms for senior executives in the financial services sector acting for both employers and employees including the regulatory repercussions.

Employment tribunal claims

Conducting Employment Tribunal and Employment Appeal Tribunal litigation from inception until settlement or judgment: acted for a senior FCA regulated individual in employment tribunal claims for unfair dismissal and whistleblowing; acted separately for a listed hedge fund in the successful defence of a multi-million-pound whistleblowing case before the Employment Tribunal; and successfully defended claims for race and sex discrimination against a multi-national Bank

FX manipulation investigations

Advised senior individuals who have been disciplined by their employers in relation to allegations of FX manipulation.

Cross-jurisdictional matters

Acted for an international news organisation, co-ordinating and advising on litigation risk and strategy in conjunction with local counsel across Latin America.
