Andrew is head of the environmental law team and has 20 years experience in advising on cutting edge environmental law.

He is widely regarded as one of the country's leading experts on environmental law with particular expertise in contaminated land, environmental insurance, waste management and renewable energy.

Andrew is a past chairman of the UK Environmental Law Association and has been appointed by the Minister of State to chair the Advisory Council of the Export Credit Guarantees Department.

He is on the editorial board of Environmental Law and Management.

Public sector

Andrew has significant experience acting for local authorities, regional development agencies, housing associations, universities and other public sector bodies.

He acted on the first site to be determined as contaminated land under Part 2A in April 2000, has provided training to over 150 local authorities and acted as a specialist advisor to the Local Government Association on environmental law.

He has advised on environmental risk management issues on numerous public sector regeneration projects, PFIs, and LSVTs.

According to Chambers UK 2008, he "wins praise from clients for his ability to understand the technical issues involved as well as political pressures."

Planning

Andrew has specific expertise in relation to large scale regeneration schemes.

This includes strategic advice on managing the process, negotiations with planning authorities and politicians, Environmental Impact Assessment and dealing with s.106 agreements.
