Our head of finance is among the lawyers included in the finance category.
This annual report lists 100 lawyers who The Lawyer's editorial team determines have contributed something special to the legal market over the course of the previous year, and who look set to shape the profession in the year ahead. Here is what The Lawyer had to say about Sue:
Sue Moore, Stephenson Harwood
In the first year of Sue Moore’s leadership of Stephenson Harwood’s 30-partner global finance practice, the group contributed 25 per cent of firmwide revenue and continued to diversify beyond its traditional ship finance and leasing roots and win work internationally.
Moore’s ability to tackle complicated situations with innovative and first-of-their-kind solutions was once again evident in her lead role in Project Quest, completed in July 2015. She created a precedent-setting transaction structure by using an orphan SPV to deal with consumer liabilities of a large company in the financial services sector and 11 major banks, through an English scheme of arrangement.
The ethos of the structure was to allow the company, which was unable to propose a scheme itself due to commercial reasons, to release scheme creditors’ claims against the company and its business partners through a scheme promoted by the third-party orphan SPV established under the ownership of a discretionary trust.
It had not previously been considered by the English court, but has now been replicated by other schemes of arrangement. The general counsel of the client at the time said Moore “has intellectual horsepower beyond most mortals”.
This listing follows Sue's inclusion in the Who’s Who Legal guide to the world’s top restructuring and insolvency lawyers for another consecutive year.
