Law firm Stephenson Harwood LLP has won the asset finance legal provider of the year award at the Leasing Life Awards. The firm has been recognised for the strength of its asset finance practice. It is one of the few international law firms to have market-leading asset finance teams which cover all three key transportation sectors: aviation, rail and shipping. The team also advises in relation to general equipment finance.

“This award recognises the depth and breadth of our expertise in asset finance,” said Lisa Marks, partner, Stephenson Harwood. “Our submission was underpinned by client testimonials which illustrate our commitment to supporting our clients to achieve their key priorities and ambitions. We are particularly proud to have won on the back of client feedback.”

Recent highlight deals include acting for SQN Asset Finance Income Fund in connection with the lease finance of anaerobic digestion plants, undertaking due diligence on all the project documents and taking security over all the assets of the operator, advising Nordea Bank's New York branch on the US$900 million financing of 36 tankers for Teekay, and assisting Rock Infrastructure Limited on its entrance into the UK rail financing market with bids of a combined value in excess of £3 billion.

The Leasing Life Awards, held as part of the Leasing Life Conference, challenge candidates from across Europe to share their recent successes, with the winners demonstrating market-leading activities over the last year.

This is the second consecutive year that the team has won this award, and comes on the back of the team having recently won Rail Finance Law Firm of the Year at the Global Transport Finance Awards, and Maritime Law Firm of the Year at the China Law Awards and Maritime Standard Awards, as well as ranking in the top six firms globally by deal volume and top three in the commercial loans sector for aviation finance in Airfinance Journal's Guide to Aviation Lawyers.
