International law firm Stephenson Harwood LLP has appointed four new partners with effect from today.
Richard Garcia and Tatiana Minaeva are promoted in the commercial litigation group, Alex Haynes in the funds group and Jonathan Kirsop in the commercial group. All of the new partners are based in the London office.

The promotions add to the 15 lateral hires that the firm has made over the last year. They build on three made last year in the commercial litigation, finance and marine and international trade groups.
Profiles of the new partners:
Richard Garcia – commercial litigation
Richard joined Stephenson Harwood in 2006 having previously worked at DAC Beachcroft and Eversheds.
His expertise lies in financial litigation, with a particular focus on banking, funds, investment and financial products litigation. In addition, Richard regularly acts for sovereign states and large commercial clients in relation to cross-border financial services, fraud and insolvency issues
Richard was part of the team acting for Vincent Tchenguiz's family trust in its high-profile billion pound claim against Kaupthing Hf and the related investigation by the SFO, for which Stephenson Harwood was awarded Litigation Team of the Year 2012 by The Lawyer, and Regulatory and Litigation Firm of the Year 2012 at the British Legal Awards.
Tatiana Minaeva – commercial litigation
Tatiana joined the firm in 2010 and leads the cross-practice Russia and CIS group.
Previously, she worked in Moscow as legal counsel at STT-Group, a major Russian real estate developer, handling the international arbitration and litigation proceedings of the company. Before that she spent more than 10 years in a private practice, including the Moscow office of White & Case and Clifford Chance.
Tatiana is Russian law qualified with extensive dispute resolution experience representing clients in international arbitration and multi-jurisdiction litigation proceedings. Tatiana has represented clients in a number of key cases in the Russian courts.
At Stephenson Harwood Tatiana is a member of the firm's commercial litigation practice where her main focus is on international arbitration and litigation proceedings with participation of clients from former USSR block. For example, she recently acted for an investor in a multi-billion investment arbitration against one of the CIS states. She also represented CIS clients in LCIA proceedings and cross-border litigations, involving worldwide asset tracing and enforcement.
Alex Haynes – funds
Alex joined Stephenson Harwood as a trainee in 2002 and is a member of the funds group.
He focuses on the funds and asset management sector, advising on the establishment of, raising funds for and reconstructions/reorganisations of investment funds in the UK and offshore as well as mergers and acquisitions, equity capital markets, public takeovers and other corporate finance transactions for clients in the asset management sector.
Jonathan Kirsop – commercial
Jonathan joined Stephenson Harwood's commercial, outsourcing and technology team, part of the firm's corporate group, in 2009 from Allen & Overy.
He has extensive experience in negotiating and advising on outsourcing and commercial contracts and is also a specialist in the areas of data protection and freedom of information. Jonathan spearheads the firm’s privacy and information law practice and has developed a strong client base, particularly in the financial services sector.
