International law firm Stephenson Harwood LLP has been appointed to two of the Board of the Pension Protection Fund's (PPF) new legal panels – the 'insolvency and corporate' panel, and the 'specialist and reserve' panel. The PPF's newly appointed panels have been created to provide expert legal advice to the PPF for the next three years.
Stephenson Harwood is one of 10 firms which have been appointed to the 'insolvency and corporate' panel, which will advise the PPF on any issues arising when it makes recoveries from insolvent employers and in particular on those occasions where there is a consensual restructuring in accordance with the PPF's published principles. It is also one of the 18 firms on the 'specialist and reserve' panel, which will provide additional strength in specialist areas such as litigation and investment work.
Mark Catchpole, head of the employment and pensions practice at Stephenson Harwood, commented: "We are very pleased to have been appointed to two of the PPF's new legal panels and look forward to continuing to advise the PPF on the important and increasingly complex work it undertakes
