Law firm Stephenson Harwood LLP has strengthened its global private wealth practice with the arrival of partner Kevin Lee, who joins the firm in Hong Kong.

"Kevin is one of the most highly regarded private wealth lawyers in Hong Kong and brings more than 30 years of experience," said Voon Keat Lai, Stephenson Harwood's Greater China Managing Partner. "As a dual-qualified lawyer – in Hong Kong and Canada – Kevin's arrival enhances the depth of our global private wealth practice to encompass Canadian aspects as well as Hong Kong tax advice."

Mr. Lee's practice covers a wide range including private wealth advisory, trusts, tax, philanthropy, corporate and commercial law, mergers and acquisitions, general business law, private equity and cross border transactions. He represents high net worth clients and advises major corporations from around the world. He joins Stephenson Harwood from Zhong Lun Law Firm, where he was co-head of the global private client practice.

"Many of our clients have strong connections with the UK, the US and Canada and many people in Hong Kong and mainland China have Canadian citizenship," said Stephenson Harwood partner Ian Devereux, head of the firm's private wealth team in Greater China. "Having a lawyer of Kevin's quality – seen by many as the premier Canadian tax and private wealth advisor in Hong Kong – enables us to broaden the support we can provide to our clients."

Mr. Lee's arrival is the latest in a number of moves to expand Stephenson Harwood's private wealth practice. Private wealth partners Erik Wallace and Laurence Ho, both of whom are US-qualified and have a wealth of experience of US tax and estate planning matters, joined the firm's Hong Kong office in 2016 and 2017 respectively. Also in Hong Kong, Silvia On was promoted to partner earlier this month, along with London-based Emily Osborne. Ms. On advises individuals and families on their succession and estate planning needs, while Osborne provides international tax and structuring advice to families and trustees of family trusts on a variety of issues.
