Welcome to the November 2014 edition of our Data Protection update, our monthly bulletin on key developments in data protection law.
In this issue, we summarise the new criminal offence for employers under section 56 of the Data Protection 1998, as well as the proposed changes to the ICO's enforcement powers.
We also provide an update on the Italian presidency's proposals for the EU Data Protection Regulation and look back at the Google Advisory Council's tour of Europe as well as summarising the Article 29 Working Party's new guidelines on the "right to be forgotten".
In our cyber security section, we provide an update on the fallout from Home Depot's cyber breach earlier this year. In addition, we discuss enforcement actions taken by the ICO and FCC in relation to cyber breaches, and consider the UK Government's recent statement on cyber insurance.
Finally, we continue to keep you up to date with the recent activity of the ICO including the latest enforcement developments and the ICO's guidance on the operation of drones.
