International law firm Stephenson Harwood LLP has appointed Andrew Edge as head of the corporate practice. Andrew specialises in public and private M&A, joint ventures and equity fundraisings for domestic and international companies. His appointment will take effect from 1 April 2014.
Andrew has worked on a variety of significant deals whilst at Stephenson Harwood, including advising Piramal Healthcare, a Mumbai-listed pharmaceutical company, on the sale of its Indian prescription generic pharmaceuticals division, to US pharmaceuticals giant Abbott for a cash consideration of US$3.8 billion; Baker Tilly on the acquisition of the assets of RSM Tenon Group plc by way of a pre-pack administration and GDF SUEZ on the £190 million acquisition of Balfour Beatty's UK facilities management division – operating as Balfour Beatty WorkPlace.
Andrew is ranked as one of the leading individuals for mid-market M&A and for corporate/commercial life sciences work in the Chambers directory. He is replacing Sharon White, who is stepping down as head of the group after being reappointed as chief executive of Stephenson Harwood for a further three year term - until 30 September 2017.
