  • ALLCO Finance Group - advised on the purchase of locomotives for operations in Scandinavia and mainland Europe.
  • Angel Trains - advised in relation to the purchase of Electrostar trains from Daimler Chrysler AG, the leasing of those trains to LTS Rail Limited and the financing of the acquisition provided by Dresdner Kleinwort Benson.
  • Gatwick Express - advising on its franchise concession to operate an airport link service.
  • Government of Gauteng Province, South Africa - advised on the £3 billion Gautrain Rapid Rail Link project.
  • Intercity Express project - advised the train manufacturer on the application of concession based principles to the £3 billion procurement of railway rolling stock in respect of the UK's largest ever transaction of this type, reviewing, assessing and negotiating the allocation of risks and responsibilities in the project.
  • Netherland's Ministry of Works - advised in connection with the PPP concession for the HSL Zuid high speed railway line in the Netherlands.
  • Channel Tunnel Rail Link - advised various parties in connection with the Design, Build, Finance and Operations concession to operate the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (now HS1).
  • Rail operators - advised in connection with bids to operate rail franchise concessions in the UK, including National Express, Govia, Keolis and EurailCo.
  • Tram operating concessions - advised bidders for tram operating concessions in Manchester and Dublin and for the Docklands Light Railway in London.
  • Railtrack - advised Railtrack as the procuring authority on the £5.2 billion Channel Tunnel Rail Link and Thameslink 2000 Projects.
  • Siemens - advised on the proposed re-financing of the Desiro UK trains provided to First Great Eastern, and on the sale, leasing and maintenance agreements for 177 Desiro UK trains for South West Trains.
  • SNCF - advised in connection with SNCF's interests in Eurostar.  We also acted in connection with the rail regulatory aspects of the change of ownership of Keolis SA and Keolis UK on its acquisition by AXA Private Equity and Caisse de Depot en Placement de Quebec.
  • Transport for London - advised on TfL's new rail powers including drafting for the 'London clauses' in the Railways Bill which became part of the Railways Act 2005.
  • Transport for London - advising on the planning aspects of TfL's new London Rail concession including on the procurement of rolling stock.
  • Bid for rail assets - advised a party bidding for the rail assets of the Laing group  (including the Chiltern rail franchise and the London Rail concession).
  • Acquisition of a UK rolling stock lessor - advised on the proposed acquisition of one of the UK rolling stock lessors (ROSCO).
    MET - advised the preferred concessionaire for the Design, Build and Operations of Merseytram.
