  • Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation - advised in relation to the enforcement in London of a US$200 million plus award made in Nigeria.
  • PDVSA - successfully discharged a $12 billion worldwide freezing order against PDVSA, Venezuela's national oil company.  This had been obtained in support of arbitration proceedings brought against PDVSA by Mobil CN following Venezuela's expropriation of Mobil CN's interest in an oil refining project.
  • Fuel quality dispute - acting for a leading oil trader in a quality dispute for a fuel oil cargo.
  • Oil dispute - acting for a major oil trader in relation to disputed ownership of oil stored in shore tanks.
  • Motor Oil Hellas - advising on the purchase and joint venture interests in an oil refinery group from Saudi Aramco.
  • Motor Oil Hellas - advising on the acquistion from Shell of Shell's oil and gas interests in Greece.
  • Duke Energy Limited - advising on its US$250 million acquisition of the entire issued share capital of MEGAS, a Dutch gas trading subsidiary of ExxonMobil Corporation.
  • Frontier Drilling AS - acting  in an arbitration relating to the charter of a drill ship and allegations of lack of maintenance.
  • Heerema - acted on its acquisition of Pipeline Technique Limited, a pipeline company acquired by Heerema in order to maintain its market position as the leading deepwater field developer.
  • Inter-Oil Exploration SA - acting on its acquisition of Mercantile Petroleum Inc, a company with oil and gas assets in Peru and Columbia.
  • Floating production Projects - advised on a number of Projects  including a high value project in offshore Nigeria which involved long-term lease, newbuilding contract, and relevant joint venture arrangements.
  • Drilling contracts - advised on a number of contracts including resolving various disputes relating to drilling operations and advice on a number of newbuilding contracts for drilling units.  We were heavily involved in the high profile casualty concerning the BP semi-submersible drilling unit, Thunder Horse.
  • Production sharing agreements - advised in relation to agreements in the Turkmenistan sector of the Caspian Sea.
  • SeaDragon Offshore - advised on its project to construct two of the world's largest offshore semi-submersible oil rigs.
  • Natixis and BTMU Capital Corporation - advised as joint arrangers on term loan and revolving credit facility financing of the cantilever jackup rig "Offshore Intrepid" for Scorpion Offshore.
  • Bayerische Hypo - und Vereinsbank AG - US$169 million credit facility to Scorpion Freedom to finance remaining construction payments on the mobile offshore self-elevating drilling unit "Offshore Freedom."
  • Natixis and BTMU Capital Corporation - as joint arrangers, on the pre- and post- delivery financing of a semi-submersible accommodation and multi-service unit for Floatel International.
  • South East Asian FPSO operator - loan documentation for a significant South-East Asian FPSO owner in respect of an FPSO employed offshore New Zealand.
  • British oil major - acquisition and joint venture with two Singaporean companies to own and operate an oil refining project and dedicated quayside.
