A restructuring and insolvency partner and head of the finance practice, Sue is known for her expertise in cross-border and domestic restructurings, corporate insolvencies and insolvency litigation. She is listed in the International Who's Who of Insolvency and Restructuring Lawyers as ​a leading restructuring and insolvency lawyer.

In recent years, Sue has been heavily involved in, and has led teams dealing with, many high profile cross-border and domestic restructurings and corporate insolvencies. In so doing, she has been responsible for devising, negotiating and implementing restructuring solutions in a wide range of matters across different jurisdictions and sectors, often involving large numbers of stakeholders.

She also deals with significant litigation in the UK and other jurisdictions arising in connection with restructurings and insolvencies.

Sue acts for corporates, banks, funds, corporate trustees, office holders, directors and other stakeholders.

Her notable cases include the restructuring of PRC group, Winsway Enterprises Limited, through parallel Hong Kong and BVI schemes of arrangement, acting for the (former) administrators of the Angel group of companies, the major scheme of arrangement in respect of AI Scheme Limited to implement a consumer redress exercise, the restructuring of Monarch Airlines, the pre-packs of the RSM Tenon Group and Thomson Directories Limited, the restructuring of the Co-op Bank, the Lehman collapse and the restructurings of KCA Deutag, Federal Mogul, Global Crossing and Cambridge Gas Transport. She has also dealt with the PPP administration of Metronet and a number of restructurings in the shipping sector including the Korean rehabilitation proceedings in respect of Pan Ocean Co Limited.

She is recognised as a leading individual in the restructuring and insolvency field in the International Who's Who of Insolvency and Restructuring Lawyers and other legal directories, and is a former member of the Insolvency Rules Committee.

Winsway Enterprises Holding Limited (now called E-Commodities Holdings Limited) 

Advising a Hong Kong Stock Exchange listed company on its major restructuring, through parallel Hong Kong and BVI schemes of arrangement and Chapter 15 proceedings. The deal was shortlisted for restructuring deal of the year at the British Legal Awards.

AI Scheme Limited: scheme of arrangement

Advising, devising and leading on a ground breaking major scheme of arrangement involving 11 banks, 2 million consumers, and various regulatory authorities which utilised an orphan trust structure.

Angel Group Limited and subsidiaries (in administration)

Advising the administrators of this group of companies in connection with significant litigation.

Monarch Airlines

Playing a pivotal role in this large restructuring, advising in connection with the restructuring of the substantial pension deficit.

Pan Ocean Co Limited

Advising a syndicate of lenders in connection with English litigation arising from the Korean rehabilitation proceedings in connection with this huge shipping group.

The Co-operative Bank Plc

Advising the trustee of the various issues of notes affected by the liability management exercise undertaken by the Bank, including the exchange offer and consent solicitation and the scheme of arrangement.

RSM Tenon

Advising the purchaser of the Tenon group, the UK’s seventh largest accountancy practice, on its purchase of the Tenon group through a pre-pack administration.

Thomson Directories

Advising this company on its restructuring, which had significant cross border considerations as a result of the Italian parent's concordato preventivo restructuring proceedings, and then advising the administrators on the pre-pack and other matters.

Latvijas Krajbanka (in liquidation)

Advising the insolvency office holder of this collapsed Latvian bank in connection with litigation strategies and ensuing major litigation.

KCA Deutag

Advising the administrators on the $2 billion restructuring of this international rig and drilling contractor, consummated by a pre-pack. The deal won restructuring deal of the year at the March 2012 IFLR Europe Awards.

Federal Mogul/ T&N

Acting on this major and lengthy cross border restructuring, involving parallel US Chapter 11 and administration proceedings. The case was nominated for restructuring deal of the year in The Lawyer Awards.
