Sunita has been practising private client and corporate commercial law for the past 19 years. Sunita recently launched Stephenson Harwood Middle East LLP's private wealth services from the Dubai office. The Dubai team will focus on assisting clients in the GCC, Middle East, Africa and SW Asia and will work closely with other members of Stephenson Harwood’s global and award-winning private wealth team.

Sunita has extensive experience of cross border corporate, commercial, dispute resolution and private client issues. She advises clients on market entry, fund raising and partnerships in the healthcare and hospitality sectors in Africa, the Middle East and South West Asia.

In a short space of time Sunita has developed intrinsic relationships with corporate service providers and the UAE regulators (DIFC and ADGM). Sunita is also working with the DIFC on their Foundation Regime and is actively working in conjunction with both the ADGM and DIFC to spread awareness in India of the benefits of using those jurisdictions, for the purposes of establishing global wealth management platforms and structures.

In India, Sunita has hosted a series of awareness raising meetings both with Indian law firms, Banks and tax advisers, as well as with family offices. She has also held client facing workshops outlining cross border Succession Planning solutions, where she has worked in partnership with Indian advisers.

Sunita was named in Citywealth’s ‘2019 Future Leaders Top 100: Super Advisors’ list, the list recognises and champions individuals who have demonstrated evidence of the skills needed in the next generation of leaders in the wealth management industry. In 2017 Sunita was named a key India Lawyer in the Indian Business Law Journal's 2017 Global Stars Report and also conferred an international accolade of recognition in the same year by the Indian Corporate Counsel Association (ICCA) of India's Most Trusted Corporate Lawyers. She has actively promoted womens' empowerment for young professional women in India and the Middle East and is a professional mentor for young female executives in the Middle East.

Family trust – removal of trustee and recovery of assets

Advising trust beneficiaries in relation to cross border misappropriation of assets and abuse of powers and fiduciary duties by trustees, removing trustees, obtaining disclosure orders and initiating recovery proceedings.

Cross border succession and wealth management

Advising a French UHNWI in relation to their global estate, including European wineries and real estate assets, executing a DIFC Will for real estate and corporate assets situated in the UAE.

Cross border succession and wealth management

Advising an African UHNWI in relation to their family succession plan covering assets situated in East Africa, Europe and the UAE. Working with their global tax advisers to establish trusts, appointing trustees and using a DIFC structure and DIFC Will in relation to the UAE real estate and corporate assets.

Omani corporate shareholders

Advising Omani corporate shareholders in relation to the voluntary winding up and liquidation of Isle of Man subsidiaries and their UAE subsidiaries. Including liaising with creditors and instructing counsel in Oman and the Isle of Man and making applications to the Courts of the Isle of Man and appointing liquidators in the Isle of Man.
