Simon is an associate in the marine and international trade department. He has experience of disputes arising from charterparties, sales contracts and casualties. Simon's experience comprises various cases conducted under different arbitral rules (LMAA, LCIA and UNCITRAL), and he also has experience of High Court proceedings.

Simon has a broad range of experience in contractual and charterparty disputes, and has acted for a wide range of clients, including shipowners, charterers and state owned companies.

He has experience of arbitrations under different arbitral rules, as well as High Court litigation. This experience includes acting for a South American, state-owned oil and gas company in relation to a complex cross-jurisdictional dispute under the UNCITRAL Rules.

Acting for the charterers in disputes arising out of a time charterparty on an amended NYPE 1946 form. Coordinating work of foreign lawyers in respect of potential claims by cargo interests following vessel casualty in South America.

Charterers – LMAA arbitration

Acted for Finnish charterers in respect of disputes arising out of a voyage charterparty on an amended ASBATANKVOY form, including the arrest of the vessel.

Shipowners – collision

Acting for Finnish owners in respect of a collision incident involving numerous vessels.

Acting for a large South American state-owned oil and gas company in relation to a complex Paris-seated arbitration under the UNCITRAL Rules, arising out of a foreign law contract for the provision of a drillship and drilling services.
