Peter has more than 40 years' experience of living and working in South East Asia and India in advising foreign and local investors.

He has written a number of books on the region, including A Short History of South East Asia and Added Value- the life stories of Indian Business Leaders. Peter’s forte is in facilitating foreign investment in the above markets, assisting clients in negotiating, structuring and implementing complex entry and exit strategies and also assisting in such other corporate advisory activities such as mergers and acquisitions.

Peter was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 1994 by the Australian Government for his services in developing Australian business interests in South East Asia. He is adjunct professor in the business school of Curtin University in Western Australia. Earlier in his career he was Asian regional managing partner of major Australian law firm.

Peter has been involved in Myanmar since the mid 1980's, advising multinational companies on complex entry and exit strategies.

This includes providing advice to: UCF China, a financial services group; BlueScope, a manufacturer of coated steel products; and AstraZeneca, a multinational pharmaceutical and biologics company.

He is currently participating in the Australian Working Group, providing detailed input and advice to the Myanmar Government on its proposed new mining law.

 
Since 1978, Peter has advised a wide range of multinational companies on entry and exit strategies to the Indonesian market.

This includes providing advice to: Colgate Palmolive, a multinational consumer products company; Blues Scope, a manufacturer of coated steel products; and Orica, a provider of commercial explosives and blasting systems.

He also has substantial experience in working with mining companies and Indonesian Government on the Contract of Work regime, including advising Rio Tinto and BHP Billiton.
