Oliver is a senior associate in the firm’s banking team. He has a broad range of experience in complex finance transactions and has particular expertise in real estate finance as well as corporate lending. Clients appreciate his responsiveness and ability to find pragmatic solutions.

Prior to joining Stephenson Harwood Oliver worked for 9 years at a magic circle firm following his law degree at Oxford. He has worked for a range of high profile investment banks, FTSE 100 companies, sponsors, sovereign wealth funds, pension funds and high-street lenders.

He has recently acted on a variety of real estate finance transactions which have involved hotels, logistics groups, commercial property as well as development financing. 

He also has experience in restructuring and in advising corporate clients on their financing needs.

Sovereign Wealth Fund

Advising a Middle East sovereign wealth fund on its £1.1 billion acquisition of a commercial property, and its subsequent financing. The deal was the largest UK single asset financing in 2015. Separately advised client on the refinancing of a high-profile hotel.

P3 Logistics Parks

Advising P3 logistics parks on their €1.4 billion refinancing by way of four separate facilities.

Ares

Advising Ares on their £192 million Senior financing from Citi and £40million Mezzanine financing from Goldman Sachs, together with intercreditor provisions, in relation to the acquisition by Ares of a portfolio of commercial real estate across Europe.

McCarthy & Stone

Advising McCarthy & Stone, the specialist retirement housebuilder, on their £200million revolving credit facility.

Rothschild

Advised Rothschild on the long term financing of their HQ, which they own, with two pension funds.

Advising Goldman Sachs on the provision of €600 million loan on loan financing to finance the acquisition of commercial property which was the subject of insolvency proceedings. Followed by advising on the exit from insolvency proceedings and a typical real estate financing.

Heineken

Advising Heineken on their £400 million restructuring by way of pre-pack administration of their term loan and bonds.

QMH Hotel Group

Advising a hotel group on liquidations, directors' duties and several refinancings.

Barclays, RBS, HSBC, BNP and ABN Amro

Advising a syndicate of lenders on the debt for equity swap and subsequent distressed sale of an oil and gas services group.
