Matthew is an associate in our commercial litigation department. He focuses on international arbitration, and has particular experience of disputes involving sovereign states and disputes regarding the oil and gas industry. He has particular experience of disputes in the oil and gas industry, having recently acted in three significant oil and gas disputes. Matthew also has experience representing sovereign states defending the enforcement of arbitral awards in England, having represented both African and South American governments in the last two years.

Matthew has experience of international arbitrations conducted under the rules of the major international arbitral institutions (including the LCIA, ICC and ICSID), as well as related court proceedings (including the enforcement of awards).

He has particular experience of disputes in the oil and gas industry, having recently acted in three significant oil and gas disputes. Matthew also has experience representing sovereign states defending the enforcement of arbitral awards in England, having represented both African and South American governments in the last two years.

Most of Matthew's experience concerns disputes relating to Africa. Matthew also spent time on secondment in 2014 in Nairobi with a local legal services consultancy.
