Katelyn's area of practice covers a wide variety of asset finance and leasing transactions, advising financial institutions, funds, leasing houses, owners and operators on matters including pre and post-delivery financings, re-financings, restructurings and sale and leaseback transactions.

She has also advised and represented clients in both the buyers' and sellers' capacities in general sale and purchase transactions relating to new-build and second-hand vessels.

Katelyn regularly engages with matters spanning multiple jurisdictions and has experience in dealing with various international maritime authorities as well as correspondent counsel across different jurisdictions including, amongst others, Singapore, the People's Republic of China, the Marshall Islands, Panama, Malta, BVI, Cayman Islands, Thailand, Bermuda, Liberia, India, France, the Netherlands, Japan, Hong Kong, Korea and the Isle of Man.

Katelyn speaks fluent English and Mandarin.

  • Ship and offshore finance

Sale & leasebacks

Acting for the leasing arm of a well-known Chinese bank with respect to the sale and leaseback of two vessels to a prominent shipping group.

Post-delivery financing

Acting for a syndicate of 3 European banks with respect to loans in excess of US$120 million covering 7 LPG vessels under construction for various Singapore companies owned by a BVI listed entity.

Acting for a European bank on the financing of 2 Ultramax newbuildings in which 2 subsidiaries of the original borrower were nominated to each take delivery of a vessel and accede to the loan agreement by way of deeds of accession.

Refinancing

Acting for a Brazilian multinational corporation in a refinancing of certain loans covering 10 bulk carriers extended to a large Korean shipping company involving first, second and third priority security interests.
