Ingolf advises on all types of shipping disputes including those arising under charterparties, bills of lading, contracts of affreightment and ship sale and purchase contracts. His bill of lading and charterparty experience includes cargo claims (loss / damage, off-spec cargoes, misdelivery), off-hire disputes, speed and consumption claims, liens, unsafe ports, fires and explosions and other types of casualty. He has particular experience of contracts of affreightment including disputes concerning nominations, shipment intervals and claims for non-performance.
On non-contentious shipping matters, Ingolf has advised clients on issues such as drafting bill of lading and charterparty standard clauses and contracts of affreightment as well as shipping e-commerce (electronic bill of lading and website terms) and shipping related aspects of trade finance (especially UCP 600).
Ingolf has specialist expertise in the carriage of LNG cargo including off-hire and boil-off claims. He is a member of the BIMCO / GIIGNL drafting committee for the LNGVOY voyage charterparty.
He also advises commodity clients on quantity/ quality and other disputes for wet commodities, and has broad experience of arbitration in London including ICC and LCIA, LMAA and ad hoc arbitration.
