Effie is a commercial litigation associate. Her experience is wide-ranging and typically involves the management and resolution of large-scale, complex matters and disputes.

Effie's range of experience includes cargo contamination/damage claims, casualties such as groundings and collisions and fraud.  Effie is accustomed to working with local maritime/government authorities and to working in multi-lingual contexts.  She is bilingual in English and Greek, and speaks French.

Her clients include oil/commodities majors/traders, shipowners, P&I Clubs and underwriters. Effie also has experience of acting in complex multi-jurisdictional litigation for banks, hedge funds and private clients, with a large proportion of her work being in the Commercial Court.

  • Shipping litigation

Advising P&I Club on grounding of ship off Dakar, involving extensive negotiations to reach settlement with local maritime authorities, close interaction with salvors for wreck removal and with local lawyers.

Advising oil major on a casualty giving rise to a range of complex issues, including multi-jurisdictional legal issues, investigations by the local maritime authorities and working closely with technical experts in a range of fields.

Advising major commodities trader on fraudulent sale transaction including obtaining interim remedies in the High Court and managing litigation in another jurisdiction.

Advising on ferry collision in West Africa involving loss of life.

Advising on collision between two ships leading to near total loss of high value cargo through spillage and fire.
