Dai Wei has extensive experience advising companies and financial institutions on a variety of cross-border and domestic ship finance transactions, including syndicated and bi-lateral secured loan facilities and related collateral exercises.

Prior to joining Stephenson Harwood (Singapore) Alliance, Dai Wei was a sole legal counsel of a top Chinese bank in Singapore advising on all types of financing transactions, and a foreign legal counsel with a local law firm specialising in China-related matters and ship finance matters.

Ship finance

Advised on a US$680 million loan facilities transaction (incorporating a sale and leaseback structure) from a Chinese bank to a Singapore operator for its purchase of 10 very large crude carriers to be chartered to a Chinese petroleum and chemicals company.

Finance and refinance

Advised on a US$23 million facilities transaction provided by a major Chinese bank to a wholly-owned subsidiary of one of the largest industrial groups authorised and managed by the People's Republic of China Central Government, to finance and refinance its purchase of six 33 metre tug boats flying Singapore flags.

Sale and lease back acquisition

Advised on a US$1.5 billion sale and lease back acquisition of 51 vessels by Singapore owners (being part of the leasing arm of a major Chinese bank) from a French shipping owner and operator.
