Calum is a solicitor with a broad range of litigation and arbitration experience in the shipping and ship finance sectors. Calum's work includes matters for a number of IG P&I Clubs, as well as bank enforcement actions.

Calum specialises in dispute resolution, regularly acting in multi-jurisdictional enforcement proceedings and complex charterparty disputes. Calum acts for a range of clients in the shipping sector including shipowner/operators and international finance banks.

Calum has experience of London Arbitration, including LMAA and LCIA, as well as High Court litigation.

Calum also has experience with shipbuilding cases, having worked for a number of Korean shipbuilders while working in Stephenson Harwood's Seoul office. This work included claims under refund guarantees and for late delivery of vessels.

Charterparty dispute

Acting for Charterers in a multi-million dollar dispute relating to charterparties ​in respect of two newbuild vessels.

OW Bunkers disputes

Acting for various ship-owner clients in the aftermath of the OW Bunkers group insolvency. Advising on liabilities against OW Bunkers and possible enforcement actions against owners by physical suppliers.

Container ship fire

Assisting a shipowner and its P&I Club in the immediate aftermath of an explosion on board a large containership. Resolving disputes with cargo interests and negotiating with slot charterers.

Acting for owners and charterers in numerous LMAA charterparty disputes on issues including late re-delivery, failure to adequately clean holds and off-spec cargo.

Acting for shipbuilders in a number of LMAA arbitrations in respect of refund guarantees and late delivery of Vessels.

LCIA arbitration

Acting for construction companies in relation to disputes arising out of energy developments in the Middle East and Kazakhstan.
