Anita is a senior associate, specialising in environmental and planning law. She advises a wide range of clients on these areas, having particular experience in infrastructure projects, real estate development, compulsory acquisition, contaminated land and the Carbon Reduction Commitment.

Anita advises developers, public sector organisations, investment funds, banks and third parties on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious planning matters including Development Consent Orders (recently for an energy from waste facility in North London),  infrastructure projects, compulsory purchase orders, Transport and Works Act orders, residential, commercial, healthcare, retail and mixed use projects, planning appeals, judicial review, planning objections and negotiating deeds of planning obligations and highways agreements.

Anita advises on a wide range of environmental issues including contaminated land, asbestos, emissions, CRC, water abstraction and waste. Anita has also advised on obligations under the EU and UK Batteries, RoHS (Restrictions on the use of hazardous substances in electrical or electronic equipment), WEEE (Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment), REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) and Hazardous Waste regimes. 

She is a member of the United Kingdom Environmental Law Association.

North London Waste Authority

Advising NLWA on applying for and obtaining a Development Consent Order for a £500 million national infrastructure project to build a waste-to-energy facility in North London.

Heads of the Valleys Development Company Limited – “Circuit of Wales”

Provided strategic planning advice on this £315 million multi-purpose development for motor sports, both at planning application and at project implementation stages.

Developer of an energy from waste facility in West Bromwich

Provided planning advice and negotiated a complex planning agreement in relation to the development of a 36,000 tonne capacity energy-from-waste plant in West Bromwich which proposed to re-process disposable nappies and other waste products in order to provide energy and heat.

British Arab Commercial Bank Plc and St Martins Property Investments Limited

Advising on all aspects of a Transport and Works Act order proposed by London Underground in relation to upgrading capacity at Bank Station, including preparing for attendance at a public inquiry and negotiating complex private agreements to protect both clients’ interests.

Advised on obligations under EU and UK legal regimes relating to Hazardous Waste, Batteries, RoHS (Restrictions on the use of hazardous substances in electrical or electronic equipment), WEEE (Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment), and REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals).

Exporter of processed seafood products based in the People's Republic of China. 

Advised on compliance with EU food laws and food safety laws, notably those relating to the import of products of animal origin into the EU.

Developer of the UK’s first zero-carbon residential community

Acted for the developer of a pioneering new eco-village in Bickleigh Down, Plymouth. Provided strategic planning advice and negotiated a Section 106 Agreement that was a pre-requisite for the grant of the two planning permissions to enable this pioneering development to take place in the UK.
